How do I add my accountant or bookkeeper?

You want to keep as much insight into your figures as possible, which is why you may do the bookkeeping yourself. However, it is always advisable to have an accountant, bookkeeper, or advisor available in case you have questions about certain entries or accounting rules.

Linking options

To avoid extra costs, Informer offers two options to work with an accountant, bookkeeper, or advisor:

  1. Add a free user

  2. Link with the advisor via an accountancy portal.

Consult with your advisor to determine which option is best.

Add a bookkeeper or accountant for free

To create a user for the accountant, bookkeeper, or advisor, you can send an invitation via the dashboard widget Invite your accountant. After sending the invitation, the system automatically creates a free accountant user.

What if this option is not available?

The Invite your accountant widget is only available if:

  • There is no existing user with the role Accountant:

    • Check this via Settings > Users.

  • It has not been removed from the Dashboard

    • Check this via the Edit button at the top right of the Dashboard.

Tip: If you accidentally entered incorrect details when inviting and the widget has disappeared, delete the automatically created user to make the widget available again.

Link with an accountancy portal

If your advisor already uses Informer, they likely have an accountancy portal. In that case, the administration can be linked to the advisor’s accountancy portal.

To link with the accountancy portal, follow the steps below:

Request linking code

  1. Go to Settings in the menu on the left;

  2. Open the administration to be linked and click the Advanced tab;

  3. The linking code is visible and can be copied via the Copy button;

  4. The linking code can now be sent to you, for example via email.

Enter linking code

The advisor must now enter your linking code in the accountancy portal.

The request to link is sent to the administration. Within the administration, the link must first be accepted before the administration becomes visible in the accountancy portal.

Accept request

To accept the link with the advisor, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Settings in the menu on the left;

  2. Open the administration to be linked and click the Advanced tab;

  3. The linking request is visible and can be accepted via the Accept button;

  4. After acceptance, the link is active and the advisor has access to the administration via the accountancy portal.
